What epub readers do you'all recommend to install in my WINDOW 7 desktop? I don't have a Kindle or Nook or any reader like that, yet. I want to be able to read books on my desktop monitor.
Hospital management system project pdf. I use mobipocket reader which can import many different ebook formats including epub and Kindle.
It's also worth having Calibre e-book manager which is a great tool for converting between formats & keeping track of you library - you can also read the books from within it.
Thank you both for your suggestions. I'm thinking Calibre. Seems to have a lot of good reviews and seems to have everything I need or want. I was just a tad hesitant because it's a fairly big install. I have plenty of HD in my PC, so shouldn't be any problems. Anybody else got any suggestions? :)
If you are going to buy Kindle books, Amazon has a reader program for PCs. Most Kindle books can't be read on calibre because of the DRM.
I use Calibre for non-DRM content and Amazon's Kindle for PC for any content I buy so it can be read on my PC and Kindle.
@oldgeezer,
Compuhost v3 free download. I may have to try MobiPocket, reminds me a lot of a previous version of Windows Media Player.
What is DRM? Sorry, I'm ignorant of so many terms, but I'm learning, thanks to you'all. :)
Calibre can convert lots of formats to read on Kindle but you're saying DRM can't be converted to read on OTHER e-readers? Sorry, I know I sound ignorant. I am about this!

If you are planning on buying an actual e-reader rather than just one for the PC then there are a couple of things to be aware of. The Kindle is very good and there are loads of free and paid-for books available, but you won't be able to use it to borrow books from libraries (if you have the facility locally) - something I only found out about after having bought one. The Nook is able to borrow books - it's generic format is epub and Calibre is very good for converting books if required. Most new e=readers come with a built-in backlight - in the Kindle is doesn't affect battery life at all which I find bizarre. Many Kindle books are DRM protected so you cannot transfer them to another reader unless it is registered to you, so if you have Kindle on your laptop and an actual Kindle you will be able to read the same books on both.
And I could format other ebooks and put them on my Kindle, with Calibre, right? Do I understand this correct?
